Gearn Heated Fat Tank The Fat Tank has 1/4" plate side walls and bottom, with a 3/16" top. The insulation is 6" thick fiberglass, The side walls have 6" perlin the full length of the tank with a R panel exterior covering. the 6" perlin give maximum space for best utilization of the fiberglass insulation and exterior strength. Also the top is covered with 14 gage steel over the insulation to carry a heavy snow load without damaging the insulation. The tank bottom has the same 6" insulation to stop heat loss into the ground. This is a very efficient design saving considerable energy. The tank's heat is maintained by using electric heating pads with a thermostat control designed to maintain a temperature of 160 degrees F.
